Every year in early March New England sugar shacks start to gather and boil the woody and unique sweetness of pure maple tree sap.
It's a tradition in our family to visit all the maple shacks open for Maine Maple Sunday. It's a special time once a year when all the sugar houses throw open their doors and give everyone a taste of the year's crop and a demonstration of how the boiling works.
They all usually have samples of this years syrup and some even have a full breakfast, one horse open sleigh rides, cross country skiing, farm visits, and a full farm store.
Here is a list of our favorite Maple Boilers that we try to visit every year, but also check out the Maine Maple Producers main website for the full list.
